How old is the child?
What game alternatives do they have?
What intrinsic motivation do they have?
To what level are you engaged in “typing time?”
Typing is probabaly not gonna’ compete well with minecraft or a playstation.
I suspect if you aren’t participating as a peer, typing won’t seem very important against the options.
Mavis Beacon was a more engaging way for motivated adults to learn typing. With kids if it only had to compete with Oregon Trail and the child was excited about computers, it might also work.
