First time you go through this kind of stuff it feels a bit crazy. There is too much daily rumor and speculation. You see good friends leaving every other day etc.

But if you have been through multiple M&A/boom bust cycles (especially with well known firms) it is not as crazy it is seems. Severance/relocation packages are really great, and HR of every other firm in the land is bombarding your inbox/linkedin. So the sky is not falling.

When the software you work on is being used all across the world, not just the US, doesn't really matter which location you are sitting in or whats happening in boardrooms. People in the boardroom get replaced. Sign boards and letterheads change. The beat goes on.

It must be rare to have been through multiple of these events, right?

Was this some sort of AI generated comment?

Really doesn’t seem to relate to my question.

I think it does. He’s saying it’s not really a big deal as they will find a way to keep the people working in the product and serving other markets or people who decide to leave will get decent severance packages.

yeah exactly, tiktok is, in some ways, too big too fail. someone is going to want to pay for access to American data. i expect the US arm of the business to be sold to one of the other big tech companies in the near future.

Not only this, Meta will need to fight many governments around the world with its new non-fact checking policy.

I bet the EU and other countries will start giving them more fines.

Would be nice to see some competition though, that isn't either Tiktok or Instagram.

I don't think the price is worth selling their algorithms. TikTok will leave the US and fight for instagram marketshare all around the world. Meta will regret supporting this move, I think.

I bet it's just like any other job.

> career is involved

If you work at ByteDance or similar companies you don't have a career

What is similar companies supposed to mean? Social media? Chinese companies operating in US?
